Membertou men society holds walk for justice

SYDNEY, N.S. — Membertou Men’s Society held a Walk for Justice from the Big Fiddle to Wentworth Park along the waterfront of downtown Sydney.

Over 100 people took part to call for justice for Indigenous people.

People held justice for Chantel Moore, Rodney Levi and Brady Francis signs, along with red dresses to represent MMIW. Along the walk, leadership pointed out spots where L’nu people we’re met with injustices, explaining the stories of Jane Paul, Cheryl Johnson, Donald Marshall and more. At Wentworth Park speeches were held to call for justice for Indigenous people.

To begin the walk a prayer was held and Sgt. Barry Gordon was also on hand to remind people of social distancing measures and masks were available to those who needed it. More photos here.
